Fashion month has concluded and the best was saved for last at Paris Fashion Week. Paris is the epicenter of fashion, spurring a wide range of creativity. There were so many Paris Fashion Week shows that I just loved and for a multitude of reasons. I won’t name them all as that list would be too long, instead I will just focus on a few of my top favorites.
First up we have Mugler, currently being led by creative director Casey Cadwallader. I appreciated the mix of blazers paired with cut out out tops, high waist bottoms and see through leggings. The outfitting is so powerful but yet sexy at the same time. The multi-colored top and skirt with a side cut out combo doesn’t show too much skin and offers just the right amount of sex appeal. Thierry Mugler was known for his theatrical runway productions, sexy body sculpting pieces and pushing the lens of sexual appeal. This collection continues to add onto the brand Thierry had built.

Dries Van Noten’s Spring 2020 runway show had a great surprise. It was announced that Christian Lacroix, one of the great couturiers had collaborated on this collection. I am personally a huge fan of Christian Lacroix. His portfolio is extensive and he had created one of my favorite sweaters which was on the 1988 cover of Vogue (this also happened to be Anna Wintour’s first cover). So to discover that these two designers had worked in secrecy over the last few months to create this collection, I was so ecstatic to see what they had come up with. The collection is a blend of both creators individual aesthetic. It featured an array of mixed media prints, brocades, ruffles, jacquards and more. I love the statements of each look and the great mix and use of color throughout the collection.

Last but certainly not least on my short list is Mary Katrantzou. This season, the show took place in Athens, Greece and the collection truly celebrated the Greek history and culture. Through their designs, silhouettes, details and even serpent jewelry, which was donated by Bulgari for the show. Out of the 30+ piece collection, a few of my favorite items were the dresses donning greek mythological symbols, map of the heavens and the world. This show was one of my top favorites not only for the designs but the charitable aspect as well. Mary helped the Elpida Association, a charity for kids with cancer, celebrate its 30th anniversary.
