The couture fashion shows are always one of my favorite shows. This is truly where creativity, art, innovation and fashion blend together. Over the last year we have been locked inside due to the pandemic, so it’s refreshing to now see things getting back to a sense of normalcy and fashion doing what it does best, inspire me!

After reviewing all of the couture shows to date, I was able to pick out a few of my favorite looks from this Fall 2021 season.
Starting with Iris van Herpen, I’ve always been a fan of her work. She is a master at using 3D printing and the way her clothing contours to the body is unmatched. One of my favorite looks is this deep blue sea gown that looks so whimsical yet full of structure. The mix of blue and purple hues on this dress flow so perfectly and not to mention purple is my favorite color. The next look is the cut out embellished dress with the matching leg pieces. Every detail of this look was so throughout and perfectly placed. I’m such a huge fan of sheer cut out embellishments and could see myself in this look.

Daniel Roseberry is a fashion genius! If Elsa Schiaparelli were still alive today I’m sure she would be thrilled with the work Daniel has done. Elsa was known for elaborate creative designs and using distinctive costume jewelry within a range of novelty designs. This collection is no short of what she started and is full of the most beautiful details, from head to toe. The denim looks in this collection are my top favorites. The jeans with the back pockets on the front and eye icons embroidered down the leg paired with the metal plated top is so over the top and I love it. Along with the denim jacket that features eyes, ears, lips and more adorned on it and breast cones. Also, you can never go wrong with metallic. The all silver metallic jacket that has the metal sculptured arms and hands belt wrapped around looks great.

Giambattista Valli always creates the most feminine dresses that can make one feel like they are the belle of the ball. Even though I am not the biggest fan of the pink, I would definitely wear one of his pink gowns. The layers upon layers of fabric are never too much. Honestly, the more the better, it’s either you go big or go home. There were a few silhouettes that caught my eye, especially the orange ruched tube dress with the long and puffy train. This would be a look I would want to wear to my next dinner party.

Ronald van der Kemp is known on the couture scene to be all about using less and creating more. As sustainability becomes more important in everything we do, Ronald advocates to create sustainable fashion by using only materials that he already has access to, not in order to not to create much excess. This allows him to truly create one of a kind pieces in small quantities. A few of favorite looks from his sustainable couture collection includes the mixed metallic leather jacket paired with the metallic pants and boots. Anything metallic wins in my book. Another is the mixed print look with the top featuring high shoulder pants and printed pants, I love a mixed print get up. Mixing prints always feels new and as if it has never been done before even though it’s not a new concept.

Who knew that the collaboration between Sacai’s Chitose Abe and Jean Paul Gaultier would bring such great fashion symmetry. The two have more in common than one would expect, even though Chitose Abe has yet to produce a couture collection. I’m a real big fan of the use of navy and white pinstripe throughout the collection. Look 11 has a long floor length lightweight white button down shirt with the navy and white pinstripe fitted one sleeve overlay on top and the mix of it all is just wonderful. Look 4 features Jean Paul Gaultier’s iconic cone shape bra mixed with a trench coat silhouette dress and a collaboration of tattoo artist Dr. Woo who produced all the sheer second skin tattoo items. I really appreciate the mix and matching of many elements throughout this collection and am looking forward to seeing more of Chitose’s work.
