London Fashion Week Spring 2020 Fave Highlights

Across the pond at London Fashion Week you usually find a good mix of edginess and sophistication. European fashion is always exciting to see as many trends tend to start here first before making their way over to us in the states. There were several great moments from the London shows and I wanted to highlight a few.

Simone Rocha’s Spring 2020 collection was very pleasing. The pearl adorned pant cuffs really caught my eye and I am infatuated with the overall styling of the looks. The layering was really fresh with the jackets, over shirts with exaggerated sleeve cuffs paired with a lace hem dress and then the pants underneath it all were my favorite. Each layer was carefully curated but didn’t feel overwhelming in the slightest bit. I cannot wait to see these looks on the streets.

Marques’ Almeida who are known for their shredded denim items, Spring 2020 collection was all about uplifting women. The start of the show introduced a video of women providing advice to their future daughters and this theme really resonated with the clothing. The collage of women printed images on the coat with feather trimmed cuffs and the dress with the full skirt were my top items from the collection. The denim that was shown for the show was a nice update to their past collections however these looks won me over.

Purple is my favorite color, even though I hardly wear it I am still very pleased when I see it on the runways. The purple skirt suit from House of Holland is a look that really pops out. The chain closure is a satisfying way to modernize the blazer and allows you to easily wear this with or without a top. The sneakers paired with the suit is always a superb styling touch. Celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the brand, Victoria Beckham’s show had a nice range of color. But it was this purple ruffle top dress that stood out to me. This dress is very romantic from the ruffles to the way it moves and the richness of the color makes a statement.

Who doesn’t love to show a little skin with some cut outs! Each season cut outs as a design detail are constantly being refreshed. David Koma opted for a dress with multiple triangular shaped cut outs down the center front and the sleeves. This dress is sexy yet not overly revealing as you are still able to wear a bra or top underneath. Christopher Kane’s shows are consistently interesting to see as he always has a sense of sexiness interpreted in his own way. This season’s theme was all about nature and its elements. The dress features diamond cut outs with galaxy star like prints and embellishments, with a drop waist and full skirt silhouette. I enjoyed seeing Christopher’s interpretation of nature throughout this collection.

There were a few notable dresses to me throughout London Fashion Week Spring 2020. First we have Halpern, by Michael Halpern, his printed strapless bubble hem dress is a marvelous look. I’m loving the oversized silhouette and bubble hems seemed to be a big trend at London Fashion Week this season. Next we have the mix media print dress from Erdem. I admire all the colors in the dress and how it is paired with the wide brimmed hat. The loose fitting silhouette yields comfort yet it is highly fashionable. Lastly, we have the brightly colored animal print dress from House of Holland. Animal prints have become a staple in wardrobes and I am liking the distinctive colors chosen for this dress.
